So much buzz about positioning accuracy on drones. Fueled lately with the announcement of the DJI Phantom 4 RTK version.
Really time for a reality check.
Top of the line GPS receivers, like the Trimble R10 are specified to have .8 cm Horizontal and 1.5 cm Vertical accuracy. So tell me again how you are going to achieve sub CM accuracy on a drone that is traveling at 15 m/s? 1 millisecond of latency error would result in an additional 1.5 cm of error.
So best case scenario is 2.3 cm horizontal, and 1.5 cm vertical.
So tell me again how your are achieving “Sub CM” precision? Accuracy discussion in next post.
